Early lead goes nowhere for North Pace Johnson of Fresno scored two points for the North, but the South won the annual North/South Matches between California's top junior golfers on Sunday at Copper River Country Club.

Johnson, who helped lead Clovis West to third place in the high school state tournament in the spring, teamed with Daniel Covrig of Modesto to win their morning alternate shot match as the North took a 3-2 lead.
