Setting it straight A woman who paid for five cloned puppies from her pit bull was Miss Wyoming World 1973. An Associated Press story on Page A5 on Sunday incorrectly reported that she was a former Miss Wyoming USA.

An Associated Press story on Page B3 Sunday incorrectly reversed the names of the two lawyers retained in a case involving homeless people who were reportedly enlisted to receive unnecessary care. Dr. Rudra Sabaratnam, CEO of City of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles, is represented by John Vandevelde, not Dominic Cantalupo. Estel Mitts, operator of a Skid Row health assessment center, is represented by Cantalupo, not Vandevelde.

Setting it StraightA story on Wednesday's front page about the sentencing of two sisters in the Genesis theft case incorrectly reported that Michael Der Manouel, one of Elaine Bernard's supporters, is chairman of the Lincoln Club of Fresno County. Bernard's supporter is Michael Der Manouel Sr.; his son is the Lincoln Club chairman. The story also incorrectly reported that Denee Conner, a supporter of Bernard's, is a director of the Saint Agnes Medical Center Foundation. Conner is no longer employed by Saint Agnes.

Setting it straight
  • An article in Sunday's Local & State section about the search for hiker James Arthur in the Sierra National Forest incorrectly identified Arthur's military rank as lieutenant. Arthur is a retired lieutenant colonel in the California Air National Guard.
  • A list of school starting dates on Monday's Back Page incorrectly reported that Lemoore Union High School District starts Aug. 20. Classes begin Aug. 18.
  • A front-page story about lifeguards Saturday incorrectly reported that Fresno's park and recreation department has six lifeguards at each of its 15 pools. Five of those pools are for wading and have two lifeguards each.

    Setting it StraightA news brief on Page B2 Sunday about a fatal motorcycle crash near Porterville incorrectly reported that it occurred on Highway 165. The crash occurred on Highway 65.

    Setting It StraightA story about Gottschalks on Friday's Business cover incorrectly stated the total number of stores the company will have after it closes one of two stores in Palmdale's Antelope Valley Mall. The total will be 58. In addition, Gottschalks lost $12.4 million in fiscal year 2007, not $14.4 million as reported in Friday's story and in a story on May 30.
